Japan Home Shirt 2018

Adidas and Japan Football Association(JFA) jointly unveiled Japan 2018 World Cup Shirt for the national team. The new jersey combines the tradition and the advanced technology. It will bring players a different feel and encourage them to fight for the country.

Japan national team is the strongest football team in Asia. It entered the finals of World Cup in 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2018 and got four titles of AFC Asian Cup in 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2011. In addition to these victories, the team owns famous footballers. Keisuke Honda who plays as a striker or a midfielder got Asian Golden Ball Award in 2013. He is the first man to get the award.

Traditionally, Japan football shirts are predominately blue and white. Blue is associated with Japanese sky and ocean according to the JFA. The color of Japan Home Shirt 2018 is samurai blue—Japanese traditional indigo, which is also the nickname of Japan national Team. The white lines of the shirt are inspired by Japan traditional craftsmanship Sashiko stitching technique. The white cotton thread on the traditional indigo blue cloth gives Sashiko its distinctive appearance. Adidas three stripes are placed on shoulders, back to the classic design.

The brand new badge of the JFA is printed on the shirt. The bird with three legs is not only a mystical bird of Japanese culture, but also the guide to 2018 World Cup. It reflects the wish to develop Japanese football and players’ spirit of challenge. There is a red sun under one foot of the bird symbolizing Japan. A Japanese flag lined in gold is printed above the JFA crest.

The shorts and socks are all indigo. In addition, “Japan” is woven on the socks.
